That means foundations, footers, piers, girder beams, floor joists, and the crawl spaces they live in. Most of the homes we work on are older, many are historic, and a good number have original foundations that have been carrying the house for the better part of a century.
Specializing matters in this work. A contractor who does foundations every day knows the difference between a crack that is cosmetic and one that is structural, between a pier that is ugly and one that has stopped carrying load, and between a crawl space that is normally damp for Florida and one that is actively rotting the framing above it.
